This is a new column! Every month I'll share things I've been reading, watching, and listening to.
My recent trip to Fort Morgan, the westernmost beach on the Alabama coastline, was exactly what a family vacation ought to be: we played in the waves, took long, sandy walks, spotted just one shark, and went through dozens of bottles of SPF.
My first contribution to Arkansas Money & Politics was published this month in the July/August edition of the bimonthly magazine. The story, in a department called Benchmarks, is a roundup of startup and business news all across the state.
My picks for don't-miss arts and entertainment events in Little Rock in July (plus a few road trips to Northwest). This month's list includes Antiques Roadshow and TEDx events, exhibit openings at Crystal Bridges and the Arkansas Arts Center, major music billings, and a whole lot of Harry Potter.
My contribution to the June issue of Arkansas Life was a summer guide to all sorts of musical happenings going on around the state.
These are my picks for don't-miss arts and entertainment events in (and around) Little Rock this June. This month's list includes theater at The Rep and with the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre, dinosaurs, super heroes, an art discussion, and a whole lot of music.
Part of my contribution to the May issue of Arkansas Life was a teensy write-up about The Lone Bellow's appearance at Rev Room this Saturday night. You can read it here (scroll down a bit). The show starts at 9 p.m. and tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door.
My picks for don't-miss arts and entertainment in Little Rock in May. This month's roundup includes current exhibits at the Arkansas Arts Center, Thea Foundation, and Esse Purse Museum, plus two big'uns: the Little Rock Film Festival and Riverfest.
I wrote a handy-dandy guide to Beale Street Music Festival for the May issue of Arkansas Life. Will post a link once the magazine's Culturalist section is online even though the festival will have come and gone by then.
A roundup of some of the best arts events in Little Rock the week of April 21, 2015, including the Arkansas Literary Festival, Etsy Fest, Bronze & Brewskis, and a Paperglaze Calligraphy class.
I was excited to get to visit Crystal Bridges' current exhibit, Van Gogh to Rothko, on a trip to Northwest Arkansas last weekend. The show is a collection from the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York, showing 76 works from the late 1800s through the present.
